NMR and Excess Volumes Studies in DMF–Alcohol Mixtures

Chemical shifts of the alcohol and DMF protons in DMF–alcohol mixtures with the mole fraction of alcohol are reported in order to study the hydrogen bond interaction present in the mixtures. The densities of DMF–methanol mixture at 22°C are also measured. Excess volumes and excess chemical shifts are correlated by the Redlich–Kister equation. The relation between excess volumes and excess chemical shifts in the mixtures is discussed. It is found that the maximum excess chemical shifts ^E(CHO-OH) and ^E(CH₃-OH) are positioned at about mole fraction methanol = 0.57 for the DMF–methanol system, as is V ^E. The results show that the NMR spectral method offers a valuable approach to similar future studies of interactions in mixtures.     

Single-strand conformation polymorphism-based analysis of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 reveals significant substructuring in hookworm populations

Sequence heterogeneity in a portion of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene (pcox1) was measured for the hookworms, Ancylostoma caninum from Australia, A. duodenale from China, and Necator americanus from China and Togo using single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis combined with DNA sequencing. The pcox1 sequences were characterised for individual nematodes displaying genetic variation within each of the three species, and those were compared with pcox1 sequences of four other species of hookworm. While intraspecific variation in the pcox1 sequence ranged from 0.5 to 8.6% for A. caninum, 0.3 to 3.3% forA. duodenale, and 0.3 to 4.3% for N. americanus, interspecific differences varied from 4.8 to 12.9%. Sequence data also provided information on nucleotide compositions and substitution patterns. Genetically distinct groups were detected within A. caninum and A. duodenale, indicating significant population substructuring within these species. Also, N. americanus individuals from China all differed from those from Togo at four nucleotide positions, supporting a previous proposal (based on ribosomal DNA sequence data) that N. americanus may represent a species complex. The findings indicated the value of pcox1 sequence data and the mutation scanning approach for studying the genetic structures of hookworm populations, which should have important epidemiological relevance.

Microwave‐assisted synthesis of phenylenedi(4′,4“‐tetrahydroquinoline) and di(4′,4”‐tetrahydropyridine) derivatives

The synthesis of bifunctional pyridine and quinolione derivatives were investigated using terephthalic and isophthalic aldehydes as a precursor. The reaction proceeds under microwave irradiation with good yield (70–92%) and short reaction time (7–9 min.). We provide a rapid and efficient method of synthesizing a range of bifunctional monocyclic and bicyclic products related to 1,4‐dihydropyridines (1,4‐DHPs).     

Formation and Crystal Structure of Stable Five‐coordinate Diorgano Cobalt(III) Complexes

The mer‐octahedral complexes(2‐carbonyl)(4‐Me)(6‐tBu)phenolato[C,O]hydridotris(trimethylphosphine)cobalt(III) ( 1 ) or ‐(1‐carbonyl)(2‐oxo)(1,2‐diphenylethene)[C,O]hydridotris(trimethylphosphine)cobalt(III) ( 2 ) via formal insertion of propynoic acid ethyl ester into Co‐H functions afford pentacoordinate vinylcobalt(III) 3 and 4 , respectively, that are diamagnetic and attain a square pyramidal structure as exemplified by an X‐ray diffraction analysis of 3 .     

稀土对耐候钢夹杂物的变质和耐蚀性能的影响

通过金相光学显微镜、扫描电镜及能谱仪,金相定量图象分析仪、非水电解分离夹杂 ICP方法分析固溶稀土含量、电化学腐蚀性能等分析测试手段研究了稀土在耐候钢中存在的形式、非金属夹杂物的形态、尺寸、分布及对耐蚀性能的影响.     

英平诸痹灵药酒中钴,锶,锂含量分析

采用火焰原子吸收分光光度法测定５种英平诸痹灵药酒中钴、锶、锂的含量。结果表明，该类药酒中微量元素Ｓｒ含量较高，微量元素Ｃｏ、Ｌｉ含量较低，该结果为讨论抗类风湿药物中微量元素与治疗类风湿疾病的关系提供了有用数据。

考察了前文制得的水滑石及其焙烧产物在对甲酚氧化反应中的催化性能，发现经水滑石焙烧得到的具有尖晶石结构复合氧化物比没有焙烧的具有水滑石结构的以及由经物机械混合的样品具有更高的活性。     

Synthesis and Second‐Order Nonlinearities of Chiral Prolinol‐Substituted Chromophores

A new series of thiophene‐ and furan‐containing chromophores with a chiral prolinol donor and a sulfone acceptor has been synthesized. The UV‐vis absorptions, second‐order nonlinear optical properties, and X‐ray crystal structures are described.
